The inspiration for this ribbon comes from a cloisonné enamel bowl from the Ming dynasty. The horses represent earth, wind, and water. The bats and birds floating in the clouds represent air. The bat image is found frequently in ancient Chinese art, as the bat is the connecting animal between the Earth and the Sky. The colors we chose most accurately reflect the colors of the original piece.
