The lion is a symbol of strength and power. We had to depict the king of beasts in a strong pose, so we have him with paw up ready for battle and looking behind himself. He is looking to the heavens, particularly at the constellation Leo depicted here. We think he is pleased with himself. We used a rich purple the symbolize royalty and a deep charcoal to symbolize the desert night of Africa.
